Our latest training escapades
Over the last couple of months, our fabulous trainers, Abbie and Ben have been busy delivering our world class childcare training to childcare teams in the Maldives, Mauritius and Bali.
Our training covers such broad and diverse topics to include every single possible element of childcare best practice – from first aid to policies, paperwork and activity planning – so it’s really important that our trainers keep the sessions fun and engaging.
How do we do this you may ask?
Abbie always ensures that the group play a big part in the training itself to keep them interested.
She starts each day with a quiz of what’s been covered in the previous sessions, to check for understanding and retention of the information she’s covered.
She does a lot of role play too – it’s the best way to practice what you’ve learned and understand first hand how to deal with some tricky situations you may be faced with. We play a lot of games throughout the training, especially through the team work and activity planning sessions – but our trainers also often throw in a game when they feel they’ve been talking for too long and to make sure everyone is still focused!
Abbie and her group at Melia Bali had lots of fun last month learning the 8 times table when dealing with ratios, and Abbie made sure to test the team throughout the training to keep them on their toes!
Abbie always encourages the trainees to think of their own solutions and have confidence in their experience by answering the question ‘what would you do?’ – this creates discussion and enables the whole team to draw on their individual experiences and learning.
The groups will also take some time to visit the kids club, observe sessions and put what they’ve learned into practice.
Have a look at some of the things Abbie and Ben get up to in their training sessions below!
